Abhaya Shrestha (Chair/President)
Abhaya is a Managing Director at GPB Capital, a private equity investment firm headquartered in New York. Prior to GPB Capital, he was a Principal at Corinthian Capital Group, a middle-market private equity firm where he made control investments in manufacturing and business services companies. Prior to Corinthian, Abhaya was a Vice President at Behrman Capital, a private equity investment firm with $2 billion in capital under management. Abhaya started his career working in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Computer Science from Amherst College. In addition to his work for the Help Nepal Network, he has volunteered with the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies, Overseas Development Network, Water Aid, the Akanksha Foundation, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and Minds Matter of Chicago.
Prerana Shrestha (Program Director)
Prerana is a Postdoctoral Associate at The Rockefeller University, where she also received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience in June 2011. Previously, she received her Bachelor's in Science degree in Biological Chemistry from Bates College with recognition as a Charles A Dana scholar. She has been part of the Executive Committee of International Nepali Biomedical Society (INBS) and the Editorial Board of Natural Selections, a campus newsletter of The Rockefeller University. She has regularly performed extempore dance at various cultural and official events in the USA.
Parul Pande (Finance Director/ Treasurer)
Parul is a Human Resources Executive at Ana-Data Consulting in New York. She has a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Milano, The New School for Urban Policy and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in International Relations, Women’s Studies and Hotel Management. When she is not crunching numbers at work, Parul is an active volunteer at Lenox Hospital in New York. She has also volunteered for Nagarik Aawaz, a Kathmandu-based organization that organizes various initiatives to promote sustainable peace in Nepal.
Jwalanta Shrestha (Technology Director)
Jwalanta Shrestha is currently a Computer Science graduate student at East Tennessee State University. He received his Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus in 2008. He is the initiator of HeNN eLibrary project and coordinated the deployment of first eLibrary in Dang, among several others. Jwalanta is also the co-founder and CTO of Kathmandu-based tech-startup Diyaalo Technologies. In the past, he has worked with Department of Education on national education database project as Software Developer and DB Administrator, and at Open Technologies Resource Center, IT Park as Research Associate.
